Through our partnership with Congress of Communities our executive director Amanda Holiday was very involved with the Hope Starts Here(HSH): Early Childhood Partnership Detroit from 2017 to the present. CCCO supported HSH at every level by attending meetings, recruiting parents to be part of the planning process, collecting surveys, hosting strategy team meetings at our offices, recruiting parents for interviews with Mathematica, and more. We were recently (January 2019) awarded a $20,000 grant from Community Connections to support the Hope Starts Here Imperative #4 “Guarantee safe and inspiring learning environments for our children”. Through this grant we will hold focus groups, facilities tours, and create two brand new innovative child-spaces in public places in Detroit. We also received a ChildCentric grant of over $4,000 to research the possibility of opening a community house.
